Scholarships

The Springfield Park District offers many wonderful programs for children and their families. From Fun Shop to summer camp to ice skating, the activities open up new worlds for our children and provide them with skills that will help them throughout their lives. The programs bring families closer and provide new outlets for creativity and play. Physical activities encourage fitness, social skills and team building.

However, many area families cannot afford to participate in Park District programs. The Springfield Parks Foundation has established a Grant-in-Aid/Scholarship program to help raise needed funds so children are able to enjoy all that our parks have to offer. The Parks Foundation is a 501c (3) organization, so donations to the Foundation are tax deductible as allowed by law. Interested community organizations and private donors may give to the Foundation throughout the year knowing their gift will go directly to eligible families who wish to participate in Park District youth programs.

Our Scholarship Donors:

Eligible families select the Park District programs they would like to participate in and apply to the Park District for assistance. Scholarships are available for children 2-14 residing within the Park District whose families face financial hardship. The Park District reviews applicants to determine eligibility and provides the funding. (The Foundation does not determine applicants eligibility.)
