TREE PLANTING CEREMONY/PRESS CONFERENCE IN CENTENNIAL PARK

Springfield, IL…The Springfield Parks Foundation and Royal Oaks Nissan are proud to announce a planting ceremony of 37 White Oak trees in Springfield’s Centennial Park on Wednesday, November 10, 2004. A press conference will be held at 10 a.m. to showcase the trees and Centennial Park, one of Springfield’s newest parks. The park is located on the west side of Springfield at Bunker Hill and Lenhart Roads (take Wabash Avenue west to Bunker Hill, turn right). The press conference will take place north of the tennis courts where the trees will be planted.

Dave Hahn, co-owner of Royal Oaks Nissan, will be on hand with representatives from the Parks Foundation, Park District and others to plant the trees. In 2004 Royal Oaks Nissan began an initiative to be more involved in contributing to local organizations with the purpose of community development. During the month of May 2004, Royal Oaks, with support and promotion provided by Clear Channel Radio, did a promotion to donate a tree for every car sold during the month. The result is the 37 oak trees being planted in Centennial Park on November 10.

"At Royal Oaks Nissan we care about our community and are proud to assist in the efforts of the Springfield Parks Foundation. A planting of oak trees is a perfect beginning to our support of the Foundation and its efforts," said Dave Hahn, Co-owner, Royal Oaks Nissan, Springfield.

Royal Oaks Nissan is located at 701 S. Dirksen Parkway, Springfield.

The Springfield Parks Foundation is a not-for-profit fund raising organization dedicated to enhancing the use, growth and preservation of the city’s community parks.
