Contact: Cathy Schwarz MEMORIAL BRICKS FOR SALE FOR WASHINGTON PARK PLAYGROUND Springfield -- The Springfield Parks Foundation is excited to announce the next phase of its Washington Park Playground Renovation project: The sale of memorial bricks. The memorial brick walkway and entrance will be an integral part of the new playground. The bricks are available in two sizes: 4” x 8” brick with a maximum of 3 lines (14 characters per line) for $100 or 8” x 8” brick with a maximum of 6 lines (14 characters per line) for $250. The playground renovation is a community effort to refurbish and expand one of our city’s treasures. The new park will include special educational learning areas, a natural terraced amphitheater, water play area and children’s garden. Activity zones will be grouped for appropriate age play including a special toddler play area. It will encompass nearly two acres including the current playground area and features a turn-of-the-century prairie style design with stone and iron fencing, period lighting, strolling bridge and drinking fountain gazebo. Contributing to the brick walkway is a wonderful way to memorialize your family, child, grandchild, special friend, pet, personal motto or memory, favorite song or saying for countless years to come.
