Fourth Annual Bocce Ball Tournament

The Springfield Parks Foundation’s 4th Annual Bocce Ball Tournament is expected to draw a lot of interest this year. What has been “friendly” competition in past years will turn into “heated” competition at Centennial Park this fall. We anticipate more rivalry between teams of similar organizations and companies. To lead the way, the Springfield Parks Foundation Board Team has challenged the Springfield Park District Team to a spirited game of bocce ball.

The double elimination format guarantees each team will play at least two games on either Thursday, September 11 @ 5:30 p.m. at Lincoln Park or Friday, September 13 @ 5:30 p.m. at Washington Park. If your team makes it to the semi-finals, you will play on Championship Saturday, September 13 @ 10:00 a.m. at Centennial Park. Isn’t there a team of co-workers or a business competitor you’d like to challenge to a game of bocce ball?

Remember, you have to pick which night you want to play - either Thursday or Friday - so be sure to click on the Download an Entry Form to register your team of players. Please send your check and registration form to the tournament address no later than Monday, September 8, 2008. If you have questions about the schedule, call Jack Wheaton @ 546-9592 or email him at jack@sundownone.com for more information. If you want to know more about the bocce ball double elimination format, contact Andy Griswold @ 525-7500 or email him at Andrew.Griswold@trupay.com. Download the Rules to find out everything about bocce ball. It really is a simple game which can be enjoyed by folks of all ages and skill levels.

Your registration of $35 per player or team of four at $140 goes toward helping the Springfield Parks Foundation fund important family programs and events put on by the Springfield Park District in our community. You also receive a colorful commemorative t-shirt to wear.

Sponsorships are also available:

We’ll see you on the courts!
